Finding the Power in your Cyclical Nature

Most women don’t know this about themselves... but they have some truly incredible superpowers.
Even women who do know they have special superpowers, yet haven’t learned how to use them in a way that actually gives them the life they long for.

But those who do understand and embrace those superpowers… they never look back.
    They own their PERIOD POWER.

Before we dig into these superpowers, let me set the scene by saying this:
I spent most of my life hating my period 🩸🩸

The pain in my belly. The blood. The whole damn mess.

I thought it was so fucking impractical and I was endlessly frustrated by that part of being a woman.
(Actually, there were many other things I found annoying about being a woman, but that’s a story for another day.)

Because I had so much pain and resentment toward my period, I spent 20 years filling my body with fake hormones — first in the form of the pill, later with an IUD.

All of it to suppress and avoid feeling my shit.

My shit… yep, that’s what I called it.

I thought it was gross. It smelled. It hurt. IT SUCKED.
And since I never wanted children, I figured I’d never “need” it anyway and it made me even more resentful towards that part of womanhood.

That’s how I related to myself, my body, and my menstruation until, in my mid-30s, when I read in a book that said...

"You’re not supposed to experience pain during your period."

    That made me think:

“Well, I’ll be damned - no one ever told me that before.”

With that realization and still now I could spend a lot of energy blaming society, the women around me, or doctors for never teaching me that. But victimhood and blame have never felt good to me.
    So I chose a different approach…

    Personal responsibility.
Because, in the end, my body is my responsibility. Always.

And in that very moment, something shifted inside me.
It started my journey toward finding my Period Power.

And without giving too much away - I can proudly say that today, I LOVE my period.
Believe it or not… I actually look forward to it.

Today I genuinely enjoy my entire cycle, because I’ve learned how to harvest the unique superpowers that become available when I lean into one of the most beautiful things about being a woman: our inner rhythm.

    FROM CONTROL TO COOPERATION

What I really learned was something both simple and profound…
The body isn’t something to be controlled.
It’s something we’re meant to collaborate with.

For years, I thought I had to conquer my body.
    Overcome the pain. Push through.
I thought I had to be “strong enough” to get over everything - pain, bleeding, fluctuating energy, moods.

But when I realized that my body was actually working for me, everything changed.
My entire way of living and relating to myself shifted.

We women are not designed to be the same every day.

Our energy, creativity, focus, sensitivity, our need for rest or action... it all flows, rises, and falls in rhythm with our inner cycles.

When we try to live in a linear way, constantly “on,” constantly producing at the same pace day after day.

We’re literally working against our nature.
And that’s where the challenges begins.

    THE GIFTS OF FEMALE HORMONES

There’s a reason women and men experience the world differently.

Men’s hormones follow a daily rhythm.
Testosterone peaks in the morning, drops throughout the day, and resets the next.
    Brilliant… for men!

Women’s hormones, on the other hand, dance through a monthly cycle - with a shifting levels of estrogen and progesterone creating four unique phases.

Biologically that means women are not designed to function the same way every day.
It’s not a weakness, more like a form of genius, a power we’re meant to harness.

The classic “masculine” way of working and living - same routines, same pace, same focus - simply doesn’t fit the feminine nature.
It’s like expecting a tree to bloom all year round.
    It doesn’t.

When women begin to live in tune with their cycles, instead of fighting them, they discover a rhythm, a wisdom, and an intelligence within the body that has always been there.
We just forgot to listen. We were too busy trying to fit into a box that was never meant to hold us.

THE FOUR SEASONS OF YOUR CYCLE

Just like Mother Nature has her seasons, so does your body.

Each phase of your cycle holds its own gift and when you learn to work with it consciously, life becomes more fluid, more powerful, and you'll experience far less friction.

Below I am providing a simplified overview of the four seasons, but know this: there’s so much more to it.
Your inner seasons influence everything! Your food, sleep, movement, body composition and social needs.

To think you can learn it all in one article would be doing yourself (and your body) a disservice.
But you get to let this simply be the beginning of a beautiful reconnection with yourself.
Promise me - and yourself - that you won’t stop that reconnection at the end of this article. That would mean you miss out on those awesome superpowers of yours.

Later in this post, I’ll share where you can go to not just learn the theory, but learn how to actually live in sync with your cycle and harvest all the fruits of honoring your Period Power.

    🌑 WINTER – Menstruation
Begins on the first day of bleeding.
Winter is your body’s invitation to rest, reflect, and turn inward.
You might feel the need to withdraw, to slow down, to release.
There’s so much wisdom available in this phase.
When you give yourself permission to honor your winter, you make space for insight, intuition, and peace.

    🌱 SPRING – After menstruation
When your bleeding stops, your energy slowly returns.
Ideas spark. You feel the desire to create, plan, and take initiative.
Spring is your creative phase. It's perfect for starting new projects, brainstorming, and taking bold steps.
As your estrogen rises, you feel more social and optimistic.
The key is to build sustainable momentum here without burning all your fuel at once.

    ☀️ SUMMER – Around ovulation
    Here you’re in full bloom.
    Magnetic, social, expressive, radiant.
Your body is wired for connection, and you feel it as a natural urge to engage, share, create, and shine.
It’s your power phase! Perfect for presenting, launching, networking, negotiating, inspiring, socializing.
Your get-shit-done phase. Just but make sure there’s room for play and pleasure, too.

    🍂 AUTUMN – Before menstruation
This energy brings a call for boundaries, honesty, and clearing both physically, emotionally, mentally.
Autumn is the season of truth.
What you could ignore in summer’s light becomes visible now.
If you don’t honor this phase, it can show up as PMS-like symptoms of irritation, frustration, exhaustion.
But when you understand its message, you’ll see that autumn is about releasing what no longer serves you, so you can enter winter clear and renewed. In fact PMS in my experience does not exist when we have discovered our Period Power.

No two women’s cycles are ever the same and your own cycles won’t be identical either.
It’s not about fitting yourself into a formula, but about learning to observe yourself. Knowing which levers to turn up or down as you dance through the seasons in a self-respecting way.

Over time, as you gather observations, you’ll begin to notice patterns in your energy, your expression, and your needs.
Those patterns become the foundation of your personal manual - the guide to your inner flow.
    That’s your Period Power.

    MODERN LIFE VS. CYCLICAL LIFE

Modern life expects women to show up as the same version of themselves every day.
Same energy. Same productivity. Same capacity.

But that’s an illusion. It's a system built for bodies that don’t change throughout the month.

I don’t believe men created this structure to harm us - they simply didn’t know better at the time.
    And neither did we.
But now we do!! And that means we can no longer ignore it.

When women try to live linear lives, we lose touch with our nature.
    We push ourselves. Exhaust ourselves.
    And often end up feeling:

    • Tired

    • Empty

    • Disconnected

    The truth is:
You’re not lazy. You’re not unstable. You’re not “too emotional” or “too much.”
    You’re cyclical.

As you begin to respect your cyclical nature and actually live by it, your energy and creativity return - because you’re no longer fighting yourself, you're harnessing your innate super powers.

To live cyclically is to lead yourself with wisdom.
    To know your pace.
To know when to move and when to rest.

That’s the kind of self-awareness and personal leadership that creates lasting power in every season of your life.

REFLECTION: YOUR BODY AS A COMPASS

Sit with this question for a moment. Read it, close your eyes, and feel your answer:

🩸 How would your life feel if you designed it around your body - instead of your calendar?
🩸 What would your weeks, meetings, pauses, and relationships look like if your body got a say?
🩸 How would your energy feel if you stopped scolding it - and started collaborating with it?

That’s where your Period Power begins.
Not in perfection but in presence with your own truth.

    GROUNDED & GLOWING

For me, living cyclically is like writing a love letter to my female body.
And I’m endlessly grateful that I transformed my relationship with my cycle.

It changed my relationship with energy, creativity, work. Everything really. It gave me so much peace.

🧡 When you honor your cycle, you honor life itself and your feminine nature🧡

Every day I have the pleasure of working with strong, conscious women who are done living in constant overdrive, exhaustion, and performance. They’re still wildly ambitious, still creating and achieving amazing things, but they’ve revolutionized the way they do it.

These are women who want to create, grow, and lead from a place of self-respect, presence, and power.

Inside my membership, Grounded to Grow, I teach women like you how to own your Period Power, so you can burn bright, instead of burning out. That shift into a cyclical nature requires some radical shifts in how we live our life. Not just in what we know.

    One thing’s for sure:

Once you’ve tasted the fruits of living by your cycle, of owning your Period Power...You’ll never look back.

Because you were never meant to fight your body -
you were meant to own the power of every season within it.
